Abstract

With the advances in technology, the education system became no more based on the old style of teaching. In fact, the face of education has been drastically changed. In addition, the Internet and mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have been greatly affecting the way of our students as well as teachers and professors learn and teach, respectively. In fact, university students might own more than one smartphone besides his/her laptop. All of these devices are connected 24/7 to the Internet. In addition, it becomes noticeable that youth prefer to chat and open social websites from their mobile phones. Therefore, taking this youth culture into consideration is an important factor through delivering the academic materials as well. This chapter covers the most important aspects of educational technology, learning systems, educational platforms and Opencourseware systems. In addition, the chapter introduces Hail University case study in utilizing one of the educational platforms.
